As always, we like to feed the mind at MancsterCon. Saturday is when we host talks where people get an opportunity to share their passions and discuss ideas with fellow fans. These will be held at Terrace upstairs (next door to MadLab) and will generally last for 20 minutes with time for questions and answers afterwards. Talks will be announced at least 10 minutes in advance.
11:30 – 12:00 Lego Pirates of Penzance
Brought to you by Chris Lockwood, a keen member of MUGSS (Manchester Universities Gilbert and Sullivan Society for the uninitiated) and amateur stop motion animator, the talk will begin with a screening of his stop motion short accompanied by a soundtrack courtesy of the male chorus of MUGSS, which will then be followed by a commentary on the techniques used to produce the film.
12:00 – 12:30 Tery Colmenero
An interactive session cum informal workshop where Tery will be discussing her upcoming project, seeking input from the audience to produce a kind of peer reviewed black comedy.
12:30 – 1:00 Comics and Mental Health: a Selective Skip through History
The talk will be a presentation on Mental Issues in Comics, covering 13.798 billion years of sequential art history. Join us with Pauline Sometime, our very own photographer and resident Comics expert as she describes and explains the way issues relating to Mental Health have been depicted in comics through the ages.
