Now you could say that we at MancsterCon get around a lot. You could say that we’re almost obsessed with encouraging cosplayers and artists to inspire each other over some rounds of mutually enjoyed cupcakes.
You could say that.
And you’d be right.
We were thrilled to be invited to host a Cosplay Sketch-off at the 2015 Doki-Doki festival and the weekend certainly didn’t disappoint. Filled with drummers, martial artists, samurai warriors. There were even some of our MancsterCon alumni amongst the tables such as Brogan Coral, Mewa Chu and Nikki Kidura.
As part of the Doki-Doki festival, we actually held several sketch-offs with the last one as our grand final to determine the best of the best! Here are the winners with their respective cosplayers:
A huge thank you to Doki-Doki for inviting us – we look forward to doing many more. It was such a great event and had a wonderful atmosphere being filled with fans of Japanese culture, ancient and modern as well as some amazingly talented artists and cosplayers. Bring it on for 2017! 😀
Got an event coming up? Want some fun comic-making workshops or a cosplay sketch-off of your own? Get in touch, we’d love to hear from you and we’re always up for hosting fun activities suitable for all ages 🙂
Having just about recovered from our 2015 convention, we started our series of Cosplay Sketch-off events with a Wednesday afternoon meetup kindly hosted by Futureworks college!
We’ve been a bit quiet with updating our blog but at least we remember to share good news when we get it. And this time, the good news is, we have sold out all our tables for MancsterCon 2015!
It’s really amazing seeing all the interest in our little indie con (as we like to call it) and quite humbling considering how we started out with a crazy idea and not much else. We live in… interesting times to be sure, and it’s never been more important to celebrate and support local artists and creators, a goal MancsterCon has always aspired to.
Thanks to people’s donations and time and serious talent, we’ve been able to keep going for our third year and we’re determined to make 2015 the best yet. For those who have been unsuccessful in applying for a table, there are lots of other ways to get involved in the con, from donating prizes to our competitions to guest judging our cosplay events. Do get in touch for more details.
In the meantime, go forth and buy your earlybird tickets, available until the end of July. Each ticket comes with a goodie bag and a raffle ticket so you don’t want to miss out (unless you don’t like freebies and/or cake).
All the best and see you then!
HR-AM comics are a small independent cartooning duo who specialise in personalised commissions such as design work, greetings cards and comic strips. It’s always a pleasure to have indie comic creators on board and we’re very happy they’ll be able to make it in August!
Also, don’t forget to like their Facebook page and show them your support.
We’re pleased to announce that A Stitch in the Dark will be joining us at MancsterCon 2015! Here’s some info about her lovely work:
A Stitch in the Dark creates cute geeky embroidered items, such as cuddly fleece cushions and coloured tote bags, with things such as Pokemon and Harley Quinn.
